Let’s talk about Body Positivity…
So let’s talk about body confidence and self acceptance.
There is a lot of controversy going round at the moment about the ‘Real Body Positivity Movement’ and fake, posed vs unposed pictures.
Instagram, and other social media platforms are a highlight reel and I think that it the most important lesson to learn.
As someone who’s spent most of her adult life overweight I’ve accepted my ‘flaws’ my stretch marks, my cellulite, my rolls.
I embraced them at 18 stone and I celebrate them 3 stone lighter and I will continue to accept them and be proud of them as I continue on my journey. They are part of my story.
I’ve learnt to not compare myself to others, I’ve learnt not to be drawn in by the obviously staged pictures which are used to sell utter shite, I’ve learnt to get my information about weightloss, fat loss and training from reputable sources such as James Smith, Diren Kartal & Ben Carpenter
Its taken time, it’s not always easy but it’s 100% worth it.
Let’s be honest and break it down… We all have insecurities, we all want to post ourselves in the best light, in the pose that highlights our favourite features rather than the relaxed lay it all bare unposed pictures. My camera roll is full of 1000s of pictures that didn’t quite make the cut.
It doesn’t mean that we love ourselves any less, it doesn’t mean that we don’t accept our flaws, it doesn’t mean that we aren’t ‘Body Positive’ it just means we are normal people 🤷🏻♀️
So you do you and I’ll be over here doing me✌🏻
